Say goodbye to mould in your house or building once and for all.

Mould Inspection and Audit

For home owners, landlords, businesses, real estates, insurers and more.

Here’s what’s included:

  • A questionnaire so you can tell us which mould issues you’re worried about and why.

  • At your house or office, our team will spend between three and four hours taking samples and identifying the cause of mould and microbial activity - from building issues and moisture damage to your habits.

  • Often, we’ll suggest a few actions you can take to start fixing mould issues straight away.

  • In 10 to 14 business days, you’ll have a comprehensive report that outlines all of the issues we’ve identified and the best steps to take to fix them. These are long-term solutions that fix your mould problem for good.

  • A follow up phone or zoom call so you can ask any questions you might have.

  • We work within the Australian Mould Guideline and ANSI IICRC Guideline to ensure our work is compliant and of the highest standards.

Investment: Starting from $350 (air and swab samples do cost more, but we’ll always speak to you about this first).

You deserve to enjoy your home or business without worrying about mould and the health problems it causes.

As pleasant as it is, a warm, humid climate like we have in Australia can put our homes at risk of getting sick from mould.

It seems as simple as a few spots on your curtains or a musty smell after rain. The problem with household mould is that what we can see is usually just the tip of the iceberg — mould can grow on our furniture and clothing, within subfloors and wall cavities, and be present in the air we breathe.

And when it does, it can inflame our airways and cause health problems like coughing, blocked noses, tightness and sore throats. Over a long period, it can even cause asthma and stop our lungs from working as well as they should.

That’s why we do what we do. Because nobody should have to live in a house that makes them sick.

Treating the cause of household mould, not the symptoms

We often visit properties that have had previous mould remediation attempts. The mould has been bleached and painted over, but the cause of the issue hasn’t been addressed, so it comes back. Again. And again.

That’s not us. We’re not about quick fixes and Band-Aid solutions.

Instead, we want to help you:

  • Identify why mould is growing in the first place.

  • Suggest preventive measures to fix what’s going on now and stop mould from coming back in the future.

  • Feel confident about what’s right for your home.

  • Save money by fixing issues early.

  • Remove some of the worries of purchasing or leasing a new property.

  • Protect your home, health and investment.

With a certified builder with over 13 years’ experience on the team, we look at the bigger picture of your home health issues.

CASE STUDY:
For example, we recently visited a bathroom presenting with high levels of visual contaminant, despite no water leaks and an air conditioner managing the room’s temperature.

After a thorough investigation, we identified an external window vent that was allowing hot air inside the toilet room. This, combined with an automatic door closer, meant that whenever the toilet door closed, the room was cut off from the property’s air conditioning and started heating up. Condensation formed on the walls and this was the precursor for mould.

By repairing the window, removing the door closer and increasing ventilation, the owners were able to stop mould from reoccurring after remediation.

Here’s how a mould inspection and audit with BuildBio works:

We’ll send you a questionnaire so you can tell us what’s going on in your building and what you’re most worried about.  Then Adrian, our certified builder and indoor environmental health expert will investigate the building, which usually takes between three and four hours.

He’ll look where others often don’t, like under the subfloor, and he’ll be searching for:

  • Building flaws.

  • Visible signs of moisture with specialised equipment.

  • Bubbling paint.

  • Water damage.

  • A musty, damp smell.

  • A history of flooding.

  • Soft spots in floors or deteriorated structural members, for example, wood rot.

  • Poor ventilation.

  • Exhaust fans that don’t work properly.

  • Lumpy insulation.

He’ll also be testing for invisible signs of moisture using moisture-detection equipment and and can take air and swab samples to find out exactly how much mould is present. Often, Adrian will give you a few ideas about what you can do to fix mould straight away.

Then, in 10 to 14 business days, you’ll get a comprehensive report that explains your results and makes clear recommendations on how to fix them. These are long-term solutions that fix your mould problem for good, and because we’re not the ones profiting from any repairs, you know we’ll only recommend actions you really need.

We’ll then schedule a phone or zoom call to talk about the report. This is good because it means you can ask any questions you have and feel confident making the right decision for your property.

What’s in the report?

Everything you need to take control of your building health!

As well as background information on your site and surrounding area, we’ll take you through the issues we’ve found room-by-room, with photos. We’ll list the problems these issues are causing, and suggest step-by-step actions to stop them from happening again.

You’ll get all your lab reports and we’ll break them down so you can see where your results fit in. We’ll even include a glossary, so you know exactly what all that science talk means.

The price of a Mould Inspection and Audit starts from $350. But we believe what you spend now will save you money and stress in the long run. You can also save money on a mould inspection by purchasing it as part of a home health package.
